APPLE TO LAUNCH STANDALONE CLASSICAL MUSIC APP

Apple has announced that Apple Music Classical, a standalone app that specializes in the genre, will be released on March 28th.

“Apple Music Classical makes it quick and easy to find any recording in the world’s largest classical music catalog with fully optimized search, and listeners can enjoy the highest audio quality available, and experience many classical favorites in a whole new way with immersive spatial audio,” Apple wrote in a press release.

Spatial audio has been frequently praised for its ability to provide a more immersive listening experience, particularly for classical music recordings. The app will provide an extensive range of features, including curated playlists, exclusive albums, biographies of composers, guides to key works, and user-friendly browsing options.

Apple Music Classical will offer high-quality streaming at 192 kHz/24 bit hi-res lossless, as well as a vast collection of spatial audio recordings, numbering in the thousands. Similar to Primephonic, the app will prioritize accurate and thorough classical metadata, which can be a challenge for platforms that attempt to cover all music genres. You will have the ability to easily search for specific recordings by composer, work, conductor, or catalog number.
