MARK ZUCKERBERG'S META SET TO CREATE APP TO RIVAL TWITTER

Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has announced the creation of a new social media application that allows users to share character-limited posts, in an attempt to compete with Elon Musk's Twitter. According to a Meta spokesperson, the app will be a "standalone decentralized social network," providing a separate platform for users to share their interests.

While the name of the app is currently unknown, it will be based on a framework similar to Mastodon, a Twitter-like service that was launched in 2016.

By introducing a Twitter-like app, Meta hopes to capitalize on the recent turbulence at Musk's company, which has been dealing with layoffs and cost-cutting measures. MoneyControl has reported that the app, codenamed 'P92,' will be Instagram-branded, enabling users to sign up using their existing credentials.
